Overview

United States citizens can enter Costa Rica without a visa for a stay of up to 90 days. A valid passport is required.

Extensions are generally not granted. Most travelers do a 72-hour border run to Panama or Nicaragua and re-enter for a new 90 days. The digital nomad visa is an alternative for longer stays.
