1. Who we are
Xplorians is a community of travelers. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Xplorians website, the installable app (PWA) or the mobile app, and how we use and protect it.
2. Data we collect
- Account data: name, email address, password (stored encrypted) and, if you add them, profile photo, country, date of birth and bio.
- Content you post: posts, photos, stories, comments, reactions, messages and your travel map (countries visited and wishlist).
- Location, only if you turn on safety check-ins: when you tap “I’m safe” or send an SOS, we record where you were, so the trusted contacts you chose can be told. It is read only at that moment — never in the background — the app works if you refuse it, routine check-ins are rounded to about 100 metres, and we delete the coordinates after 30 days, keeping only the city.
- Technical data: IP address, browser or device type and basic activity logs, used for security and to keep the service working.
- Notifications: if you turn notifications on, we store a technical identifier for your device or browser (a token) so we can send them. You can turn them off at any time from your device.
3. What we use your data for
- Running the community: your profile, the feed, messages and groups.
- Sending you the notifications you turned on.
- Moderation, security and abuse prevention.
- Improving the service with aggregated metrics.
We do not sell your personal data. We only share it with the providers we need in order to operate (for example hosting, email delivery and notifications), under confidentiality agreements, or where the law requires it.
4. Visibility of your content
Your profile and your posts are visible to other members of the community according to each feature's settings. Some pages (for example individual posts, or your travel passport if you share it) may be publicly visible.
5. Retention and deleting your account
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and everything on it yourself at any time, from Settings then Account, on the website or in the app — it happens immediately and cannot be undone. If you have lost access to your account, write to [email protected] from the address it was registered with and we will do it for you within 30 days.
6. Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your personal data, and withdraw your consent for notifications at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].
7. Cookies and sessions
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect your account. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.
8. Minors
Xplorians is not directed at anyone under 13, which is the minimum age to hold an account. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy significantly, we will announce it in the community before the changes take effect.
